To Mario (2010)

is a performance-based project focused on the meditative state of abstract handwriting. After reading Uruguayan Mario Levrero's book "The Empty Discourse," I decided to embark on a similar journey. As the author, presented in the book. I will sit every day to practice handwriting as a way to meditate. After several days, I realized why Levrero, in his book, failed in every attempt to concentrate on the form and end up telling a story. I decided to find a way to make handwriting abstract, focusing on the movement from left to right, from bottom to top, creating an "L" shape that lopped in every line. This exercise was repeated every day for the course of a year and, as part of the documented performance was presented at an exhibition at School of Visual Arts Open Studios 2010.
